Step 1. Clean between teeth

Your teeth aren’t really clean unless you clean between!

This is the area most normal toothbrushes cannot reach and is a haven for plaque bacteria. If it is not removed it can lead to tooth decay and gum disease. First loosen and remove dental plaque and food debris from between the teeth using floss or an interdental brush before brushing your teeth. Everyone’s mouth is different, so make sure you choose the correct product for you! Use floss or tape for smaller spaces, or an interdental brush for larger gaps. Wisdom also has Clean Between Pro brushes which are a rubber alternative to the wire brushes, should a wire brush not be suitable.

Step 2. Brush effectively

Good brushing with a quality toothbrush and a non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste is the foundation of a good oral health routine. By removing plaque regularly, you can help yourself to avoid bad breath, gum disease and tooth decay.

Ensure you take the time to brush your teeth for the full 2 minutes, twice a day – this is the recommended brushing time to deliver an effective clean.

Step 3. Rinse with an anti-bacterial mouthwash

Flossing and brushing are the most effective ways to remove harmful plaque from the teeth and gums, but a good quality mouthwash should also be used in your oral care regime.  We recommend to use this at a different time during the day (perhaps after lunch) to provide fluoride with an antibacterial action. It also provides a pleasant fresh taste and clean mouth feeling.

Some mouthwashes can deliver a very strong flavour and burning/drying sensation after use, if you would like a more gentle experience then choose an alcohol-free mouthwash. Wisdom have numerous mouthwash products, to ensure you find the right product for you!  If you wish to use mouthwash with your routine, it is maybe best to use it first – so the last step is to brush with toothpaste – and DO NOT rinse your mouth with water!

PLUS – visit your dentist for regular check-ups

A dentist will look out for oral health issues, and will suggest ways for you to keep your mouth and gums in a healthy condition.  If you ignore the issues and leave them untreated, you can potentially face some painful consequences at a later date.
